“Tabernas” are small scale raicilla distilleries who use artisan methods and their distillers are known as “taberneros.” Each of La Venenosa's Tabernas releases are different and are sourced from different tabernas. The drawing on the label is of the actual tabernas where this Raicilla was made, so you can truly see how small-scale it is! The series is sourced out by world-renowned chef Esteban Morales, who has crisscrossed the region searching out the very best producers. This version features the handiwork of brother (aka "Los Hermanos") Benito and José Salcedo Rios.

Raicilla has been produced for over 500 years in the Mexican state of Jalisco, Mexico. Jalisco offers a plethora of agave species, second only to Oaxaca, however the Tequila made in Jalisco can only be made with the blue agave. Raicilla from Jalisco can be made with many different types of agave that are scattered across the landscape. These, along with great diversity in terroir, equipment and techniques, give Raicilla an amazing spectrum of flavor and history.
